I typically receive at least one email per week from a prospective caretaker/housesitter asking if it is possible for families to find positions as caretakers or housesitters. We actually have quite a few subscribers who are enjoying life as caretakers and housesitters along with their children. Here is the story of a typical caretaking family:
Dennis and Judy, along with their two children, Chad and Jade, caretake a ranch estate in Colorado. They accepted the position because they were seeking what they describe as a quiet, healthy, mountain lifestyle that would enable them to camp, hike, fish, garden, and water and snow ski with their children. The couple loves the flexibility that caretaking provides and appreciates being able to work together while spending quality time with their children. In addition to the benefits of being together as a family, as caretakers they are provided with a salary, home, paid utilities, and use of the estate facilities.

Dennis and Judy care for the property, providing maintenance, upkeep, and improvements that they believe will enhance the appeal and appearance of the ranch. They take pride in the role they play in keeping the ranch estate looking beautiful – even down to keeping the flowerbeds that surround the ranch dwellings filled with brightly colored flowers. In their role as caretakers, the couple provides peace of mind for the estate owners and ensures that guests are able to enjoy the beautiful property.
I am so interested in doing something like this with my own family. Thanks for giving me the incentive to get going. It sounds like such a great lifestyle. Thanks. Jen and Will
